Job Details

This is a specific project implementing IFRS16 into the organisation

Client Details

My client is a large Public Sector organisation based in Wales

Description

This is a homeworking Project working for a large Public Sector organisation in Wales.

My client is looking to hire a temporary Financial Accountant primarily to work on implementing International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 16.

The organisation has initial funding in place for 4 months (December to March).

This role would support the Financial Accountant specifically on the development and maintenance of the organisations financial accounting policies and processes and the adherence to them, ensuring they reflect current standards. IFRS 16 will be adopted fully from 1st April 2021 and some disclosures will be required within the Financial Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2021 so the tasks for this role would mainly be to implement the requirements of IFRS 16 as adapted for the public sector.

the role will include;

  • Assess the impact of IFRS 16 as adapted for public sector on the organisations financial statements. Gather information required to make the required disclosures.
  • Make an assessment of any system changes which will be required to be implemented during 21/22 ready for full reporting IFRS 16 at the year end (new IT solution required or continue with spreadsheets)
  • Update accounting policy and procedure for IFRS 16 leases
  • Set up process for identifying new leases subject to IFRS 16. Liaise with other key teams within the organisation to ensure organisation wide commitment.
  • Implement a process which will provide the financial accounts team with the required information on existing leases subject to IFRS 16 on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide the information required on the impact of the implementation of IFRS 16 on the 21/22 accounts for timely inclusion in the 20/21 accounts.

This is a critical project for the Financial Accounting Team and obviously quite a specific skill-set is required where we'd ideally have a candidate with previous experience of implementing IFRS 16.

Profile

You will ideally be a qualified Accountant holding ACA, ACCA, Cima or CIPFA

You will have excellent technical financial Accounting skills.

Ideally you will have implemented IFRS16 into an organisation, however good working knowledge of IFRS is essential
