Job Details

The Group Financial Controller will report into the Group CFO and will play a key role in the broader development of the finance function to support the ambitious growth plans of the business

Description

As the Group Financial Controller (GFC) for this leading financial services business in the Midlands, you will report directly to the CFO and will deputise for them

Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the leadership team, you will play a key role in the broader development of the finance function, challenging the status quo of processes and controls
  • You will be managing a significant team based in the Midlands and with some occasional travel to London, driving engagement and a culture of high performance, as well as developing the teams
  • Overseeing the month-end close process and then presentation of the monthly results to the board and senior management
  • Building strong relationships with the external audit team, providing a single point of ownership for audit delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with all group policies and relevant technical accounting standards
  • Responsible for indirect and direct tax
  • Leading operational finance working closely with the operations teams to ensure robust processes and controls are in place
  • Assist with ad hoc finance projects and provide ongoing support to the CFO

Profile

For this Group Financial Controller opportunity in the Midlands, you must have/be:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA,ACCA,CIMA) with sufficient post qualification experience to confidently take on the role as described
  • Previous financial services experience and experience of operating in a regulatory environment is essential
  • Experience of leading and developing a significant group finance team, including operational finance, and driving a high-performance culture is essential
  • Senior financial management experience with a focus on developing financial control and reporting processes
  • A passion for driving change and a track record for delivering continuous improvement
  • A strong influencing ability to be able to network effectively with finance and operational management across the business
  • Ability to make day to day accounting decisions and solve accounting issues and problems
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
