Position:

Reporting to the Finance Director, this role has overall responsibility for day to day financial operations, including payroll, and for ensuring effective internal controls over the company's financial and operational procedures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Performance:

  • Responsible for producing the financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring that they are completed accurately and on a timely basis
  • Responsible for the provision of supplementary reporting, analysis and support to senior leaders and other stakeholders, both within Muddy Boots and across TAG.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported in compliance with IFRS and UK accounting standards
  • Ensure that effective controls exist to prevent errors in data collection and calculations.
  • Support the Finance Director in preparing the annual budget, monthly forecasts and in monitoring performance to budget.
  • Liaise with external auditors and work closely with our external accountants in the UK, Australia and other jurisdictions in the preparation of the statutory accounts.
  • Liaise with HMRC regarding VAT, PAYE, NICs and corporation tax.
  • Liaise with the HR Business Partner to administer the monthly payroll, including salary, pension and payroll taxes, salary sacrifice schemes and benefits scheme claims and renewals. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting obligations, including RTI and P11ds.
  • Challenge expenditure across the business to ensure effective cost management.
  • Identify and implement improvements to internal processes and information systems to drive operational efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and external stakeholders, including other members of TAG, and respond promptly to ad-hoc requests for financial information.


People Management:

  • Lead by example in terms of behaviour and performance as a senior team member
  • Manage, support and coach Finance team members to ensure they are motivated and engaged within their roles and that they perform to the required standard.
  • Ensure that consistency and best practice is developed and maintained across the Finance team.

Requirements: Essential

  • Relevant accounting qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar
  • Experience of working in a similar role, including with line management responsibility
  • Experience of providing meaningful analysis and commentary to senior colleagues
  • High level of financial systems knowledge and advanced excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident dealing with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure, to use judgement to make decisions and adapt to change


Desirable

  • Experience within the food, farming and/or IT industries
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, and of SAP
