Job Description

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for handling the full spectrum of accounts payable from monitoring the payment terms and the activities related to the processing of the incoming invoices, (through VIM), matching, validation and payment.

You will play an important role, such as:
  • Match purchase orders to invoices and enter invoices into computer
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centres by analyzing invoice/expense reports and recording entries
  • Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos, issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments
  • Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements. Enter new or update vendor names and data
  • Report sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices
  • Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the AP function in accordance with records retention policies and procedures
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • You will also partake in any ad-hoc projects and process improvements whenever necessary.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, it is required of you to have:
  • A minimum of Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent;
  • At least 1-2 years of progressive finance.
  • Knowledgeable in Accounts Payable/Receivable/Reconciliation etc.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and use own initiative.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Applications such as Words, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Knowledge of SAPR3 and SAP BPC preferred.
  • Business writing such as email, official letters.
  • Experienced with multi-tasking environment.
  • Adaptable in a diverse culture environment.
  • Being experienced in working in an environment that requires the ability to communicate with people of different levels and embracing the team-work spirit.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, analytical thinking, problem solving and attention to detail required.
