Who is the company?

The hiring company is a leading industrial fastenings manufacturer. They engineer, manufacture and distribute high quality industrial fastenings (e.g. screws/bolts/nails etc.) for their clients to then assemble into their various products.

Working with huge household names spanning across the automotive, tech and domestic appliances industries - name a major brand of household appliance and the chances are that the company supplied some of the parts for it.

What is the role?

On this 3 year scheme, you will be providing general group accounting assistance, reporting to the Group Financial Controller.

On the scheme you will be:

Taking on a significant statutory reporting and management accounting role, this role will be both varied and challenging, with a clear succession path, and may include some overseas travel.

Key tasks include:

  • Consolidated management accounts

  • Responsible for producing the consolidated management accounts that are submitted to the Board

  • Intercompany trading - review and follow up of monthly reconciliations, elimination of transactions and calculation of related PURP adjustment

  • Reconciliation to year end and half year end reporting

  • Year end and half year end

  • Assist the Group Accountant in the year and half year end procedures:

  • Managing the subsidiary reporting process

  • Analytical review of submissions and following up on queries raised

  • Assisting in the group consolidation, including the calculation of consolidation journals

  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual and Interim reports - including direct responsibility for certain technical accounting disclosures

  • Budgeting and forecasting process

  • Assist the Group Accountant in the annual budgeting and dynamic forecasting processes, including:

  • Managing the subsidiary reporting process

  • Analytical review of dynamic monthly submissions and following up on queries raised

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Budget and monthly Finance Board report

  • Other responsibilities

  • Ongoing Treasury management procedures including liaising with banks for drawdown/repayments of RCF facilities as well as calling dividends from subsidiaries

  • Ongoing maintenance of certain technical accounting records/calculations

  • Act as a day-to-day point of contact for the resolution of subsidiary queries

  • Involvement in other areas including rebates, royalty income and credit insurance.

  • Ad hoc projects as required by the business

  • Involvement in internal 'health checks' across the Group
