Job Title: Director, Financial Accounting
This a challenging role in a fast paced, multinational environment. We are seeking a leader with a broad range of finance experience who can grow and develop corporate and international finance functions at Micron in Penang. This opportunity has arisen due to a relocation of the activities performed by an existing finance team based in Glasgow to Micron’s office in Penang, with further expansion of additional roles to follow.
Reporting to the Corporate Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer, the main responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Direct the planning, organization, operations and administration of in-scope corporate and international accounting functions with a vision to establish a center of excellence.
  • Benchmark processes against best in class entities and drive process improvement.
  • Transition the accounting currently done in Scotland by building a team, documenting standard processes and planning the transition.
  • Oversee the transition of additional accounting roles filled in Penang and integrate into the team structure.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate monthly close processes for various EMEA entities in accordance with US GAAP while ensuring proper maintenance of statutory financials.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP and applicable international and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Provide support to tax department in completion of CIT and VAT returns.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and local country accounting standards.
  • Proven track record of team development, process efficiency and innovating finance workloads.
  • Experience building and expanding a center of excellence is highly preferred.
  • SAP experience, including ability to drive efficiencies through automation.
  • Ability to succinctly explain financial matters to non-finance personnel.
  • Contribute to the global execution of key Global strategic initiatives & projects.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a positive customer service focus to both internal and external customers. Responsible for coordination of team deliverables for audits (internal and external).
  • Needs to be able to think strategically to pre-empt/adapt to a dynamic market
