Data Science Specialist - Internal Audit

You will be responsible for executing the analytics-driven transformation of the Firm's Internal Audit function.

Who you will work with:


You will be part of McKinsey's internal audit function which acts as the third line of defense in the firm's Risk governance model. Internal auditing is an independent and objective assurance and consulting activity. Its primary role is to help protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the firm. Internal Audit achieves this through assessing whether significant risks are identified, appropriately reported and controlled and also by assisting relevant committees/functions to improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls.

What you will do:

You will support the implementation of the internal audit data, automation, and advanced analytics strategy. You will build and maintain advanced analytics models and tools. You will support the identification and implementation of technology-driven continuous improvement opportunities for internal audit as well as provide audit input for recommendations on process improvement opportunities for auditees. You will onboard and manage technology vendors in collaboration with the Cyber and IT organization teams in support of the Risk function. You will work in collaboration with Risk Technology and Analytics Teams, which will include data scientists, data engineers, platform engineers, and UX engineers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in data science, computer science, statistics or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in leading agile software development products, managing technical teams, turning business requirements into technological solutions, leveraging advanced analytics to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, briefing senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in building and operationalizing bespoke advanced analytics tools, including people analytics, process optimization, and predictive risk analytics
  • Knowledge of R or Python programming languages as well as Tableau and Alteryx
  • Knowledge of statistical models
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills
  • Advanced database language knowledge to perform complex queries from different data sources
  • Experience in translating analytics into operational insights and communicating insights to senior leaders
  • Outstanding English written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills
  • Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counselor relationships
