We're transforming our business, and we're keen to increase our digital capabilities to evolve the way we work and optimise opportunities for growth.The roleWhat will you be doing?As Finance Manager you will be responsible for applying your knowledge and skills to project activities, deliver cross-functional Finance and Underwriting projects and to drive process automation and a culture of continuous improvement.What will you bring?
- Consult with Finance leaders to translate a project idea into a defined project with goals, objectives, resource plans and scope.Develops and implements communication and reporting mechanisms to manage issues, risks, and timely delivery of initiative results. Translates project goals and objectives into a defined future state and project success measures that can be understood by project stakeholders, project team, and others.Manages project quality through activities such as conducting appropriate reviews, obtaining approvals, and taking corrective action when necessary, with mentoring by a more experienced program manager, if applicable.Proactively identifies barriers and resolves issues, determining contingency plans (executing as needed), while mitigating risk.Project manage the year end and planning cycle ensuring the reporting timelines and deliverables for year-end reporting and the annual plan are communicated.Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the way performance is reported and plans are developed, and facilitates and responds to senior management feedback.Working with the business, develop tools & automation to develop efficient financial reporting and modelling tools, planning tools & drive automation to improve processes. Maintain a dialogue with managers and others across the business including US Corporate Finance to ensure strong engagement on driving performance excellence.Ensure the continued protection of Unum's information, by following all applicable Information Security policies and procedures and by reporting suspected weaknesses in information security controls to the Information Security Officer.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with a PMP qualificationStrong Finance & Underwriting project management, change and process improvement skills and experienceDeep knowledge of Finance and Underwriting processes together with ideas and a desire to implement changesAble to multi-task and prioritise own and cross functional (matrix) teams workEffective presentation/communication skillsStrong knowledge of logical data model/managementEffectively uses technical project management toolsAbility to negotiate effectively with business and IT partners on business requirements and timeframes on large initiatives Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to balance the need to gather detail with the need to solve the problem
