An opportunity has arisen for a recently qualified accountant with Fund Accounting experience to join one of the UK's largest Pension Fund's London office. This role will be a key link between the internal fund accounting production team based off-shore, and the front office investments team in London. Real Estate/Private Equity experience is a strong preference.
The role will be responsible for producing high quality financial reporting for the Real Assets team comprising the company's Property pooles dunf and their Lond Term Income Fund. Their LTIF invests in long dated investments, debt and equity largely backed by Infrastrcuture and Real Estate. Working closely with the Head of Investment & Fund Accoutning and the Real Assets team, this role will work to ensure the continuous review and improvement of the financial reporting of Real Assets.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that statutory reporting requirements are delivered for Property and LTIF in accordance with FRS102 and the Pensions SORP
- Assist in the proactive management of external auditors
- Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with the Investments Front Office teams in order to ensure the two way flow of information and informed decision making on both sides
- Deliver monthly, quarterly and any ad hoc reporting required to the Real Assets Investment team. Attend meetings as required and present financial information clearly and concisely.
- Review accounting policies and processes across Property and LTIF to ensure they are robust, and being applied consistently. Suggest and implement improvements required to ensure a high quality Finance service is delivered to both the Front Office team and on behalf of their clients
- Lead the relationship with external service providers for the accounting aspects of all Investments including SPVs. Ensure proper oversight of each entity including set up
- Assist the Head of Fund & Investment Accounting with the monitoring and due diligence of third party service providers
- Assist the Head of Fund & Investment Accounting with management and oversight of the Investments Accounting team to ensure the junior team are delivering a strong transactional accounting service. Build competency and training across the team to provide development opportunities.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Minimum of 5 years post accounting qualification experience
- Proven record in fund accounting. Direct experience of working within the Real Estate or Infrastructure space is highly desirable
- Excellent knowledge of best practice for fund accounting
- Strong knowledge of various investment products
- Strong knowledge of Systems, Processes and Controls used to support an asset management business as well as an awareness of risk.
- Reporting and presentation skills; ability to convey complex information clearly and simply to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
