We are looking to recruit a Commercial Accountant to work out of our Head Office in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will support the finance team to ensure the delivery of business objectives through the provision and interpretation of key management information.

What you'll be doing day to day
  • Working closely with commercial colleagues to review contract performance across the Group
  • Understanding the drivers behind revenue and cost forecasts on the Group's contracts and summarising for senior Finance colleagues
  • Assisting with the monthly contract results reporting process to ensure accurate and timely data is provided
  • Providing critical input into the monthly re-forecasting and annual business planning processes
  • Ensuring strong and consistent application of financial controls across the Group's operational business units
  • Driving cash collection and best practice credit control activities within the business units
  • Supporting systems development projects, in collaboration with IT, commercial and operational colleagues
  • Training and supporting commercial teams to promote the importance of financial and accounting requirements
  • Providing support to the business units in respect of tax and legislative requirements such as VAT and CIS
  • Appraising financial controls / processes and liaising with the internal audit function
  • Undertaking other tasks as requested by the Chief Financial Officer and Group Financial Controller to assist in the smooth running of the department
  • An element of travel will be required for this role due to the need to engage with colleagues based at regional offices and sites

The experience we're looking for in a candidate
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 3+ years post qualification experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Extensive experience working with non-financial colleagues and bridging the gap to the Finance function
  • Construction/Engineering experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail
