An opportunity has arisen for a Group Management Accountant to work at our Head Office in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. The Group Management Accountant reports into the Group Financial Controller assisting in delivering a wide range of financial support to the Group. Key responsibilities of the role cover monthly processing and reporting to divisional and Group management, supported by financial control activities including balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.

The job holder is expected to be a CIMA or equivalently qualified accountant, and should be able to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team. It is essential that they possess a positive, can-do attitude with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

What you'll be ding day to day

  • Ownership for monthly management reporting, including consolidated management accounts and board pack
  • Review and challenge of monthly contract results submissions by the Group's operating business units
  • Liaise with non-financial colleagues across the business to understand variances to budget and forecast, and prepare associated commentary for management
  • Responsibility for controlling Group overhead expenditure, working closely with the relevant departmental heads
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all trading companies
  • Month end tasks including ledger / journal review
  • Preparation of 13 week and longer-term cash forecasts across the Group
  • Involvement in statutory reporting cycle, including interim results and annual report and accounts
  • Key point of contact for the annual audit, including preparation of audit file and liaison with the audit team
  • Assistance with statutory returns as required, including CIS, VAT, PAYE / P46 / P11D and Payment Practices Reporting
  • Filing of National Statistics submissions as required
  • Involvement in IT development projects, acting as a key point of contact for finance
  • Other ad hoc duties as required to support the Group Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer

The experience we're looking for in a candidate

  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience
  • It is essential that the job holder is fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Experience in applying International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) desirable
  • Strong academic background
  • Experience providing management reporting within a large business
  • Experience working within a PLC desirable but not essential
  • Exceptional communication and team skills
  • Demonstrable commercial expertise ideally gained within a construction / engineering business
