Finance Accountant - IFRS 15 knowledge required
As one of Vodafone's key strategic partners we are currently recruiting for a Finance Accountant to join the team on an 6 month contract. This role would usually be based in Newbury but is remote working for the foreseeable.
Role Purpose
Responsible for reporting a robust set of monthly financial results across including reconciliation of the systems, P&L and balance sheets.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities and strong technical knowledge. They will enjoy improving and streamlining processes and will have the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
Key accountabilities:
Month End Reporting
- Complete the production of timely and accurate monthly service revenue and cost of sales results by preparing and posting journals to SAP and OLAP within the agreed month end timetable
- Preparing Month End performance packs
- Perform analysis of results to ensure completeness / accuracy and be able to explain key drivers.
- Presenting at month end close meetings.
- Communicate detailed analysis of the results to the business (Finance Decision Support and Commercial Management), giving insight into the drivers of actual results.
- Prepare accurate and timely General Ledger account reconciliation, including investigating and resolution of outstanding items.
- Manage risks and opportunities.
Financial Systems and Control
- Provide full support to financial systems development and support teams.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with existing Sarbanes Oxley and Audit control documentation while identifying opportunities for streamlining controls and maintaining an effective control environment.
- Submitting monthly Balance Sheet and Billing to GL controls within the agreed timetable
Knowledge & Expertise
- Have an excellent knowledge of procedures and issues within the team/area. Provide support to team members as required resolving reporting issues.
- Have an understanding of the key assumptions in the forecast and budgets.
- Evaluate and challenge business cases and proposals
Qualifications/Experience
- Fully Qualified or finalist (CIMA or equivalent) ideally with relevant business experience Understanding of IFRS
- Strong Financial Accounting and analytical skills
- Experience in dealing with multiple complex demands from various areas of the business and various levels of seniority
- Knowledge of the mobile telecommunications industry an advantage
- Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of SAP, Access, Business Objects and OLAP an advantage
