Audit Yorkshire (AY) is an NHS shared services consortium, offering a growing range of internal audit and anti-crime products and services, primarily to the NHS and not for profit sector in the Yorkshire and Humber region. We are an award winning, forward looking team, providing valuable assurance and advisory services to our Members and clients.

We are continuing to expand our client base and have a number of exciting developments in progress. To support our continued growth we are seeking additional talented Auditors and Senior Auditors.

  • Internal Audit provides independent assurance in respect of the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous audit experience wishing to develop their career, and progress towards a more senior role. We are looking for ambitious professionals to play a key part in the team and to take responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of work including complex audit projects.

    The Person

    For the Auditor Role:

    You will have at least two years audit experience with a sound knowledge of methods, techniques and standards in order to be independently competent in routine situations, will ideally have made progress with a relevant professional qualification and be willing to undergo training as necessary to undertake role.

    You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a self-motivated and professional work ethic, and be literate and efficient in the use of a variety of computer systems and software

    Your success in this role will be determined by your ability to:
  • build effective relationships with a variety of individuals and clients
  • deliver projects and audit plans to the right quality, on time and within budget
  • work proactively and engage effectively

  • For the Senior Auditor Role:

    You will be educated to degree level, have a minimum of 2 years practical knowledge and experience of methods, techniques and standards, backed by a relevant formal professional qualification eg Certified IIA or PQ CCAB with the aptitude to build on that knowledge.

    As a Senior you will take responsibility, with support from managers, for planning, managing and undertaking audits, reviews, investigations and projects, across a range of the consortium's Members/clients. For this you will need the ability to organise and prioritise your time in order to meet tight deadlines and high standards, have excellent written and oral communication, analytical, and negotiation skills and be literate and efficient in the use of a variety of computer systems and software.

    Your success in this role will be determined by your ability to:
  • build and maintain effective relationships with the Member/ client organisations' Directors, Senior Managers and other staff in order to enhance AY's image and the quality of the service provided.
  • prioritise and manage your own workload to deliver to time and quality requirements, to monitor and communicate progress against plans and to demonstrate flexibility in project completion.
  • supervise the completion of work by other members of the team and review work of other staff to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • supervise, train and develop junior staff on the teamwork proactively and engage effectively
  • research any new areas and develop new skills accordingly.

  • Our Headquarters are currently based at York Hospital and White Rose House (Wakefield), but travel will be required across client sites.
