Hours of Work: 8am - 5pm or 8:30am - 5:30pm

Purpose of the Group Financial Accountant Role:

Assume end to end accurate record keeping, ledger management and full financial accounting responsibility for farming businesses based in the UK, Europe and Africa. Ensure all aspects relating to these businesses are managed in a timely manner and with due diligence. Be the key interface between the businesses and the wider Wealmoor business, both financially and management data integrity & analysis. Have ownership of financial controls, ensuring procedures are adhered to and authorizations are enforced. Financial Accountant is responsible for producing statutory accounts, handling taxation matters and other external financial reporting.

Group Financial Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and implementing robust financial controls and procedures
  • Firsthand keep up to date timely and accurate accounting records
  • Produce periodic management accounts and financial reports
  • Drive a strong culture of labour & processing cost control, efficiency improvement and yield enhancement
  • Review and process expenditure in line with agreed budgets
  • Produce the annual budget with regular re-forecasting
  • Identify and implement KPI reporting incorporating financial and non-financial drivers
  • Documentation of all procedures
  • Overseeing statutory accounting and external reporting. Lead the annual audit
  • Ownership of the balance sheet, implementation of regular reconciliations and structured reviews
  • Manage inter-company reconciliations and third-party cross charges
  • Taxation; VAT returns, preparation of draft corporation tax calculations, Intrastat reporting
  • Preparation of cash flow statements and forecasts (including FX requirements)
  • Company secretarial duties
  • Accurate cost accounting to drive business growth and margin delivery
  • Support and develop the wider Finance Dept. as a member of the Finance Management Team

Group Financial Accountant Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA)
  • Minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Experience of financial control, reporting and budgeting
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to routinely deal with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with the finance team and wider businesses
  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP's, pivots)
  • Experience of accounting systems and BI tools
  • Good knowledge of current technical accounting and reporting requirements
  • Good knowledge of both direct and indirect tax compliance
  • Demonstrate agility with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Commercially astute with a flexible approach to the role
  • Fluent English - Both written & verbal
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance to workplace.
  • Operate in accordance with the company Health and Safety policy and agreed safety procedures. Wear all protective equipment when entering Operational areas as appropriate.
  • Adhere and work within company hygiene and medical requirements at all times.
