Payroll Manager £55k to £65k + Bonus & Benefits - Hertfordshire

A leading retail / hospitality business are seeking a new Payroll Manager to join their organisation and ensure that the myriad of payrolls are paid accurately and on time. You will be leading a large team, so development and training to the department is crucial as well as looking to improve upon infrastructure, compliance and constantly reviewing the existing controls.

The responsibilities are as follows:

  • Oversee the management of the various payrolls (very high volume), weekly and monthly

  • Complete oversight for the various benefits schemes that need to be implemented

  • Management of a highly successful payroll team and looking at ways to enhance payroll skill sets through development and ongoing training

  • Constantly looking at ways to develop and streamline the payroll offering

  • Looking at where change can be made across the entirety of the payroll function

  • Have complete oversight of the payroll inbox to ensure queries are being dealt with speedily and efficiently

  • Providing the relevant reporting to the senior management team as and when needed

  • To ensure full delivery of a low error rate payroll offering

  • Respond to change and the demands of the business whilst ensuring that the high expectations of customer service are still carried out to the full

  • To be the point of contact for all internal senior stakeholders for various needs.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Strong payroll experience, preferably from a retail or a shared services background

  • Exposure to large+ volumes

  • Strong leadership and team development skill set

  • Be able to prioritise a heavy work load

  • An understanding of UK payroll legislation

  • High levels of attention to detail

  • Excellent communications skills for internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to use own initiative and take ownership of running the payroll function

  • CIPP qualification would be desirable
