The Role
You will be a part of the National Management Accounting team that operates a business partnering model supporting the leadership teams of the respective Wellington base Deputy-Director General (DDG) Groups. The team provides both strategic and performance financial analysis to help each Group monitor and meet their objectives.
As the Senior National Management Accountant, you will report directly to the National Management Accounting Manager and will be the financial expert and first point of contact for a mixture of both capital and operating business units. You will oversee providing financial business partnering support and management accounting services to the business units and the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to the senior leadership team to support the achievement of Group direction and expectations and objectives
* Provide specialist input to cross functional initiatives, projects, and meetings at a senior level to influence decision making
* Monitor performance against targets and appropriations, recommend corrective actions or change appropriations where necessary
* Facilitate and coordinate the Department's integrated business planning, budgeting and forecasting requirements
* Provide support, advice and input into the long-term process including the development of annual Budget bids, internal business cases and funding requests

Key Requirements

* CA or CIMA qualified (or similar) with 5+ years relative industry experience
* Proven experience in supporting both operating and capital programmes
* Proven customer-focused experience working with senior leadership teams to support strategic objectives and provide advice to aid decision making
* A proactive mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex financial data into clear concise language, appropriate to the audience
* Knowledgeable and experienced in financial management systems and processes including GAAP, Management Reporting and Budgeting
