The Role
You will be a part of the National Management Accounting team that operates a business partnering model supporting the leadership teams of the respective Wellington base Deputy-Director General (DDG) Groups. The team provides both strategic and performance financial analysis to help each Group monitor and meet their objectives.
As the National Management Accountant, you will report directly to the National Management Accounting Manager and provide financial support to a mixture of both capital and operating business units. You will also provide management accounting analysis, reporting and strategic advice to managers, Directors and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

* Monitor departmental performance against targets and appropriations, recommend corrective actions or change appropriations where necessary
* Prepare and present monthly operating and capital performance reporting to Directors and budget managers
* Prepare reports, analysis and provide financial advice to assist decision making and the development of business cases
* Build and maintain relationships with internal customers in order to identify issues/opportunities and respond to user needs enabling you to be viewed as trusted advisor
* Support the business planning and forecasting processes and contribute within your area of specialty to deliver results that are aligned with organisational objectives

Key Requirements

* CA or CIMA qualified (or similar)
* Ability to acquire, understand and apply new job-related information, knowledge and skills in a timely manner
* Proven experience in supporting and engaging with business units and budget managers
* Knowledgeable and experienced in financial management systems and processes including GAAP, Management Reporting and Budgeting
* The ability to and simplify complex financial information and communicate that with a range of stakeholders
* A pro-active attitude and ‘value add' mindset
