Position: Senior Manager - Accountancy Practice & Tax Department

Location Romford Essex

Salary £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience

Overview:

Following this prestigious firm of accountants continued growth after winning new clients they need an experienced qualified all-round accountant to take on a rarely available key role in the business

Our client now requires an experienced Accountant to manage the business side of the firm as well as remaining hands-on with key clients for tax, advisory, and corporate matters

You need to have had at least 8 years post qualification experience working within a small to medium-sized firm of Chartered Accountants where you have senior input into the daily functioning of the practice as well as retaining key relationships with clients at all levels

The clients range from sole traders through to complex corporate structures and you need to be fully conversant with tax advice and structures, Ltd co formations, partnerships, etc. This is a great opportunity to be a number 2 person in a friendly, successful firm

Responsibilities Include:

  • Reporting to the MD / Owner on all aspects of the business
  • Heading a small tax team who deal with clients including sole traders, sub-contractors, high profile individuals, and high net worth business leaders
  • Be a key figurehead in the Practice for both technical work and people management
  • Assist the tax team to complete corporate and personal tax returns when needed
  • Review the Accounts for LLP's & Partnerships for tax advice and consultations
  • Prepare Capital Gains Tax requirements for HMRC and liaise when needed
  • Be a key contact for investigations work when required by clients and HMRC
  • Understand all the compliance and regulations regarding corporation tax
  • Add value to the firm by working closely with the MD and clients on all areas of financial and business consultancy advise and plan strategies for clients
  • Advice on company structures for new startups and company changes
  • Give taxation and business set up advice for property professionals and keep abreast of legislation for landlords, developers, S24 changes
  • Work with other professionals externally such as solicitors, financial advisors to assist clients needs
  • Display your expertise in Net Asset Valuations, Share purchase agreements, Entrepreneurs relief
  • Be a proven Hands-on Tax departmental manager for a small team and other departments when required (e.g. Bookkeeping, Payroll, Accountancy)

Candidate Requirements:

  • At least 8 years within a firm of small to medium-sized Accountants
  • Ideally qualified, ACA, ACCA or CTA
  • Strong corporate and personal tax knowledge in all areas
  • A proven team manager and ideally a Practice Manager
