I am partnering exclusively with a publishing business based in Cambridge to recruit them an Accounts Assistant to join their Accounting team. This position will report directly into the Finance Manager and will support him with day to day transactional, reconciliation and month end tasks. The business are ideally looking for someone who is studying towards their AAT and has around 2 years experience in an Accounting position. This is a really exciting opportunity for someone to get exposure to a wide range of accounting tasks aswell as the opportunity to study on the job!

The role will initially be working from home but in the future the role will be office based in the city centre (no parking)

The main duties of the role will be as follows:

• Ensuring all financial records are accurately maintained and up-to-date

• Bank reconciliation's

• Reconciling other balance sheet accounts

• Posting journals

• Assist with month end reporting

• Assist with the preparation of annual audit information

• Assist in the preparation of annual and half year royalty run

• Key contact for internal and external finance related queries

• Liaise with external auditors and other advisers for compliance and reporting requirements

• Improving internal processes and controls

• Other ad hoc tasks and assisting the wider finance team

Required skills/knowledge:

• Self-motivated and highly organised

• Ambitious, driven and eager to learn

• Positive with an innovative approach to problem-solving

• Qualified or part qualified accountant studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification

• A minimum of 2 years' practical experience working in a finance related role

• Understanding of fundamental accounting principles including bookkeeping, bank reconciliation's, accruals, and prepayments

• High attention to detail

• Excellent communication skills

• Proficiency in Dimensions systems (or other accountancy packages) and Excel

• Relevant experience in publishing is a bonus but not essential
