A niche insurance group seeks a Risk contractor to cover someone who is going on maternity leave. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in the insurance industry and will be a valuable addition to the 2nd line of defence within the business, assisting in building and monitoring the risk management framework, and providing assurance on the effectiveness of the first line controls. Responsibilities will include:
Maintenance and development of the Risk Management Framework, ensuring that all necessary Risk policies are maintained and implemented
Responsible for the identification of new and emerging risks and design of a suitable yet control environment to provide protection
Supporting the implementation and management of the internal control framework
Proving the effectiveness and robustness of the control environment through self-testing, conformance review testing from second line of defence and audits from third line of defence
Maintenance of the Group's Risk Event reporting framework, including recording internal and regulatory breaches
liaising with senior management and producing monthly reports at both Board and Executive levels
Proactively keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory regime, and developments in best practise risk management methods
Ensuring risk management policies and procedures are current and robustExperience & skills required:
Insurance industry experience
Previous knowledge of Solvency II legislation and requirements
An understanding of financial services regulation
An understanding of regulatory accountability regimes (such as SM&CR)
IT proficiency
Excellent communication skills
Great attention to detail
