We now need an Internal Internal IS Auditor to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Internal Audit function, so it can provide impactful global and regional insights to the business, through the performance of global and thematic audits as well as targeted local audits.

This unique growth opportunity will provide the incumbent with broad exposure to systems, operations, and management throughout the Company, a wide variety of projects in a professional team-oriented environment, and the potential for positive impact on company processes and controls.

Reporting to the Head of IS Audit and Projects for Europe, this role will be responsible for strengthening the IT Audit presence within the UK Canada Life business, and for the effective management and delivery of the assigned portfolio of information systems and technology audits across all IT functions and lines of business for Canada Life. This role will provide the opportunity to combine your technical, auditing and people skills to effectively advise and support the enterprise on risk related matters.

This is a high profile position requiring interaction with all management levels across the Canada Life European businesses. The role is based primarily in Potter's Bar, Hertfordshire, a short commute from London. However, we also have offices in London city, and support staff working remotely from home or the London offices where appropriate.


Key accountabilities

Delivering information systems and project audits in accordance with our Internal Audit methodology and agreed timelines; tailoring workprograms to ensure they remain appropriately focussed on key risks; and strengthening existing workprograms by referencing industry standards such as CIS, CSA, or COBIT.
Building effective business relationships with senior business managers during audits, in order to execute work in a reliable and collaborative fashion and to share best practice.
Building effective relationships with business audit teams and supporting them to deliver integrated audits of business processes and key business projects and programs.
Gaining a thorough understanding of our businesses and the current and emerging risks related to them, and remaining up to date with technical knowledge in areas such as cloud solutions, virtual infrastructure, or DevSecOps.
Contributing to strategic audit initiatives within the UK region, in particular the strengthening of our Project Assurance capabilities and practices; and
In conjunction with Audit Management, preparing high quality written reports on relevant IS governance, risk management and control issues and communicating these to Management, agreeing action plans and tracking such issues for resolution with agreed timelines.


Qualifications and Competencies


The successful applicant must hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CISA) or will be required to undertake education towards a relevant professional qualification and should possess the following skills, experience, or competencies:

University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent required.
CISA, is required. CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CIA are also considered an asset.
Experience working in a Big Four accounting firm, Financial Services Institution or in a relevant IT environment is preferred.
Requires strong knowledge and experienced skill sets in auditing using relevant frameworks: MSP, Prince 2, PMBOK, COBIT, ITIL, ISO, and NIST frameworks.
Knowledge and experience in IT Engineering & Operations and Security, and in-depth hands-on experience of delivering projects and programs in technical environments.
Knowledge and experience with Agile and Dev/Ops methodologies, and cloud applications.
Experience in using automation and data analytics tools including ACL, advanced Excel, Tableau, etc.
Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and experience developing relationships with auditees. Motivated, self-starter with a passion to learn and embracing new challenges.
Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Excellent analytical skills, and ability to problem solve and multi-task and ability to work with minimal supervision; and
Proven ability to build and maintain trusted collaborative business relationships with the ability to engage and influence others.
