My client are a global software group with a UK portfolio of around 40 companies (£40m turnover) and continuing to expand through acquisitions.
POSITION
Reporting to the Finance Director, primary responsibility will be ownership of the Management Accounting and Financial Reporting for a number of SME brands within the UK Group, including preparing, analysing and communicating the monthly results, working capital management, preparing and supporting the Group's Quarterly Strategic Review forecasting process and reporting requirements to the Canadian parent company.
In addition, the successful candidate will have managerial responsibilities of a small team of Management Accountants and be a point of contact for finance staff in the absence of the FD.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* A hands-on role requiring preparation of the monthly management accounts, including revenue recognition, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
* Supervise and support the finance team to produce timely and reliable management information reports on a monthly basis to tight deadlines
* Identify and investigate variances against benchmarks, provide analysis of differences, and explore potential problems with non-financial department heads
* Take the lead on various projects, including new acquisition integrations which will involve liaising with personnel from non-financial backgrounds
* Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements and supporting schedules, together with variance analyses, tax computations and cash flow forecasts
* Support and challenge the business heads with the Group's Quarterly Strategic Review process
* Research and analyse topics related to finance, systems and/or valuations not previously encountered
* Interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial managers, advise on the business impact and make appropriate recommendations
* Act as a Business Partner within all aspects of the role
* Contribute to the success of the overall corporate strategy
* Lead, develop and grow any direct reports through mentoring and coaching techniques. Providing constant review and constructive feedback to all aspects of their work
* Capture data and analyse to provide support to business decision making
* Contribute to the success of the overall corporate strategy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
* CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified.
* Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis skills
* Familiarity with accounting systems (ie Great Plains)
* Strong people management, leadership and mentoring skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Project management skills
* Advanced Excel skills including lookups, sumif formulas, pivot tables and data interrogation
* Knowledge of IFRS and USGAAP, particularly in relation to revenue recognition is preferable
* Experience in software or high-tech industry is a bonus asset.
