Your new role
This role is full-time, pivotal senior management role which reports to the FD

  • Manage and ensure the timely preparation, consolidation and reporting of monthly management accounts and board pack (to include profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and narrative).
  • Chair the monthly profit review meeting, highlight areas of focus and provide meaningful explanations of the results.
  • Manage and take full ownership of actions and analysis arising from the monthly profit review meetings, ensuring timely completion of all actions. Provide concise and incisive information, resolve key issues and ensure that agreed improvements / interventions are implemented.
  • Forecast central overheads and ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage key budget holders and spend.
  • Manage the budget and three-year plan processes including preparation of Board papers containing relevant analysis and detailed commentary. This analysis (to be prepared in conjunction with the Finance Business Partner) will be in depth and will include detailed sensitivity/scenario modelling.
  • Manage preparation of company full-year statutory accounts and tax packs in conjunction with the Group auditors.
  • Monitor and report weekly and monthly cash flow trends. The role needs to control all payments (suppliers and individuals; payroll, accounts payable, and expenses) to maximise cash retention without compromising service and delivery standards.
  • Ensure that a robust financial control infrastructure and environment exists at all times including capital expenditure and stock control, ensuring the balance sheet is fully (and reasonably) supported and company-wide processes properly followed.
  • Review the efficiency of processes underpinning financial integrity and work with the FD to develop appropriate business systems that drive tangible business benefits.
  • Work with FD (and others) in identifying key issues and necessary system/process changes to be addressed.
  • Project work often in tandem with either the Finance director or other colleagues, but frequently on own initiative.
  • Build effective relationships with key group executives and branch-based management teams to ensure accurate and timely information flow within the company
  • Manage direct reports, leading, and developing the finance function. Assist FD in providing a framework for succession planning and the personal development of finance staff across the company.





What you'll need to succeed

You will be fully qualified with a minimum of five years' commercial experience. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to work in a growing business, and the ability to effect change and build the business from a financial perspective. You will be able to take the lead on all accounting aspects for the company and will have solid accounting, compliance and financial skills.

Qualifications
ACA, CIMA, ACCA

Experience

  • Strong technical accounting, compliance and financial skills, including bookkeeping and treasury with a history of successful application.
  • Broader financial management and reporting in a commercial environment.
  • Previous financial control and management reporting experience, with a hands-on approach.
  • Experience of working in an environment where cost control is critical.
  • Strong attention to detail, logical decision making and an investigative nature.
  • Experience of managing and mentoring a finance team (essential)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken (essential)
  • Exceptional analytical skills (essential)
  • Strong Excel skills (essential)
  • Knowledge and experience of tax reporting rules and regulations (desirable)
  • Previous re-engineering and development of processes, systems and reporting is desirable.
