As an Indirect Tax Specialist you will take full ownership for the management of the Indirect Tax compliance, advice and reporting obligations, both internally and with the assistance of external tax advisors, this includes our UK and 9 Overseas jurisdictions.
In the newly implemented role, you'll have the opportunity to scope how you wish enabling you to utilise your expertise to develop and maintain a robust VAT controls framework through improved control design, automation or standardisation.
This role is so much more than your standard compliance role where you have the routine of VAT returns, it is very much relationship driven with key elements being around advisory and looking at the end to end risk assessment.
We're seeking a problem solver, a confident rapport and trust builder with exceptional stakeholder management skills.
Based in Leicester with the flexibility of being in the office one to two days, you can tailor your job to fulfill your lifestyle.
Ideal candidate - Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive indirect tax experience
- Practical knowledge of ERP systems (i.e. SAP or comparable large ERP systems) and PC proficiency in MSOffice (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisation, planning and project management skills.
- Superior interpersonal abilities - ability to interact and communicate well with employees across different business environments and different levels
- Advanced knowledge of Indirect Tax accounting and financial reporting processes.
- Excellent understanding of internal Indirect Tax controls.
- Strong business acumen & analytical skills with attention to detail
- Comfortable challenging the status quo and looking for creative solutions
- Self-starter, detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects, is organized, possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and is able to deliver on tight deadlines
Desirable Skills:
- ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified
- Qualified accountant or tax advisor
- Experience with an organisation with a geographically dispersed infrastructure, including a meaningful international component
