The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a broad range of experience covering group structures with differing businesses in a multi-company setup using intermediary holding companies, SPVs and alternative investment structures.


The ideal candidate should demonstrate "owning" the finance process from setup of SPVs or new business ventures, ranging from the initial due diligence stage, acquisitions and bedding in businesses. The new hire should be focused on assisting the firm in its operational and financial goals. The role reports into the Group Finance Director but will also provide support to the different business areas.


The business has interests, in property development, property asset management, education, investing in technology start-up, natural resources, corporate finance and investment management.


  • Ensure primarily records reflect day to day transactions
  • Costs are adequately authorised in accordance with the firm wide procurement policy
  • Ensure income is invoiced and funds received on a timely basis
  • Ensure supplier invoices are fully accounted for and paid on a timely basis
  • Assisting the Group Finance Director and other businesses with any investment appraisal or refinance opportunities
  • Ensure project costs are line with budget
  • Preparation of annual budgets and updating forecasts on a periodic basis
  • Preparation of the monthly reporting pack for each SPV
  • Preparation of the consolidated Real Estate PNL and Balance sheet
  • Monthly reporting to joint venture partners
  • Providing input into the monthly consolidation process
  • Ensure drawdown requests are prepared and submitted on a timely basis
  • Preparation and submission of monthly / quarterly vat returns and where necessary assisting with HMRC queries
  • Preparation of the year end audit pack with full supporting documentary audit pack
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements for audit purposes, ensuring adequate disclosures are made which reflects the characteristics of relevant properties
  • Liaise with auditors for each SPV
  • Preparation of draft tax computations for audit
  • Experience of reviewing legal documentation relating to acquisitions / disposals
  • Understanding different types of fee arrangements
  • Assist with periodic investor reporting and analysis
  • Assist the Group Finance Director in implanting a best of breed finance function, which is agile to the needs of the business and its Senior Management Team


Key Skills and Experience Required


Qualifications - Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA)


Experience - Essential:

  • Minimum 5-7 years post qualification experience in the service sector
  • Financial management reporting
  • Forecast and budgetary reporting
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and statutory accounts under UK GAAP and FRS 102
  • Preparation and submission of vat returns
  • Understanding and dealing with auditors
  • VAT reporting
  • HMRC VAT reviews


Experience - Essential:
