OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for supporting the EMEA Chief Risk Officer to implement an effective risk governance framework across the MUFG Bank and Securities EMEA business, and providing a holistic view of the risks facing MUFG EMEA. ERM supports EMEA senior management to ensure the resolvability of MUFG's EMEA entities, manages the EMEA reputational risk management framework, and supports regulatory change and reviews. The ERM department is also responsible for performing integrated stress testing, capital adequacy assessments, risk appetite setting, risk model governance, and managing EMEA Risk's governance forums.

ERM have an exciting opportunity for an experienced risk manager to join the Resolvability, Regulatory Change & Reputational Risk team in London supporting our responsibilities across the MUFG EMEA operations. This role requires an individual with a good depth of knowledge of financial markets, corporate and investment banking operations, and risk management practices, ideally with knowledge and experience of the UK and EU recovery and resolution regimes.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Lead and manage initiatives that support MUFG Bank and Securities Senior Management in ensuring the EMEA legal entities are resolvable, and manage the response to Financial Crisis scenarios.
  • Support the team in running the EMEA reputational risk management framework.
  • Support the team on regulatory change management processes and regulatory engagement.
  • Provide cover and support to other areas of the team and wider ERM responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the development and maintenance of MUFG EMEA RRP initiatives and documentation including the Recovery Plan, Resolution Pack, Solvent Wind Down plan, playbooks and any additional analysis required by the regulator.
  • Oversight of the UK and Netherlands Securities entities' recovery trigger reporting frameworks, including managing daily reporting requirements, and EUC maintenance and development.
  • Subject matter expert for RRP regulatory requirements and change initiatives.
  • Manage the RRP Task Force initiatives and facilitate meetings, including oversight across the EMEA region.
  • Manage the regular testing of the Bank and Securities Joint Financial Crisis Management processes.
  • Support the team in running the EMEA reputational risk management framework, including working with stakeholders on managing live issues, and developing the framework.
  • Support the team on regulatory change management processes and regulatory engagement.
  • Promoting innovative approaches within the department to increase efficiency of meeting objectives and reducing operational risk.
  • Dealing with and providing information to auditors and regulators as necessary.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • The successful candidate will have relevant experience in one or more of the following key areas:
  • Recovery and resolution planning and financial crisis management including solvent wind down plans and resolvability initiatives such as operational continuity in resolution in a UK/EU bank or Big Four Audit or Consultancy experience
  • Product Control or Finance background
  • Prudential supervision and regulatory change
  • Risk reporting experience
