Financial Accountant

Our client is a mid-sized corporate bank looking for an ACA qualified financial accountant

The successful candidate will have oversight of a number of European entities and branches.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor suspense accounts and provisions of relevant branches
• Implement and control GL account ownership policy
• Ensure accurate postings of costs, accruals, prepayments, etc
• Deal with and ensure compliance with tax issues including Withholding tax; VAT, income tax; preparation of tax returns and tax certificates for customers;
• Discuss tax issues with tax advisor.
• Monthly reporting of P&L, BS reporting with commentary
• Maintain a flexible approach and undertake various adhoc projects as and when required.
• Reports effective and potential Operational risks, mitigating the risks as appropriate
• Further development and maintenance of the Chart of Accounts - Classifying accounts and defining where the accounts should be placed in the hierarchy.
• Assisting with month end processes and reports
• Responsible for preparing subsidiary annual accounts
• Provide cover for various adhoc tasks for other teams in Finance as delegated by the line manager
• Assisting with production of Group Reporting on a quarterly basis
• Assisting with the production of year-end Statutory Accounts and Annual Report and tax returns
• Day to day controls over Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss

Required:

• ACA qualified, preferably with banking and capital markets audit experience
• Some post qualified experience within financial accounting
