The Payroll business unit, within the AOS service line, has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years based on high quality client service and technology. Expansion has been through organic client growth, and has averaged over 20% per year in the last three years. The business is seeking a high-quality individual to join this successful team to maintain and accelerate progress.


The purpose of the role will be to oversee and build a new delivery team in Leeds, focussing on delivering an outstanding payroll service to a mix of large, international and key clients.

In addition to this exciting development in Leeds, this role will also have the opportunity to support the Head of Delivery nationally, including playing an important part in defining our national processes and approach to delivery.


The job role is wide-ranging but focusses especially on ensuring client service standards are maintained, recruiting and developing your team through training, and actively building the profile of the national payroll business both internally and externally.

This is a high-profile role which aims to have a significant impact on how we deliver our modern firm vision within this fast growing, rapidly changing business unit.

Team management and client delivery oversight



• Recruit and develop our new Leeds delivery location, fully adopting the national quality standards and delivering an outstanding payroll service to new and existing clients.


• Support the Head of Delivery in managing delivery nationally, supporting other teams where required.


• Take a leading role, along with the wider management team, in defining and improving our national processes and standards.

Person specifications


We are looking for someone who is positive and has a can-do attitude. Someone who can solve problems in a pragmatic way, can think through problems, assess risks and find solutions.

As well as a strong outsourced payroll background, we are looking for someone with a passion for quality and delivering results.


A successful candidate will be well organised, able to work to deadline and be comfortable in dealing with senior team members and partners in discussions around review findings. Also, comfortable dealing with clients at all levels, and on both technical and commercial matters.


Key requirements:


• Payroll background with experience in a quality bureau environment


• Strong management skills - organised, able to deliver to deadlines, managing and liaising with various stakeholders in a professional services environment.


• Able to define solutions and influence others in a positive way.


• Results driven


• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates a clear and effective style of communication, and is naturally able to communicate clearly to all types of people, regardless of knowledge and experience.


• Ability to think in flexible way and apply principles to different services within the AOS service line.
