Credit Analyst - Invoice Discounting

Main Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the development and delivery of business-critical statistical analysis including, oversight of external partnerships and product assessments, alongside Finance impairment forecasting.


Support the development of the portfolio strategy for existing and new debt including delinquencies.


Analyse and develop portfolio credit risk strategies for the core lending portfolio targeting continued growth in the market.


Analysis of the Lending Management information to provide insightful commentary for Exco and Board.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform and oversee analysis of secured & unsecured lending portfolio:
  • Support Finance by providing portfolio and product MI to enhance the impairment model (analytics)
  • Support the stress testing assumptions process (Credit Risk) (Analytics)
  • Support the IFRS9 transition (Analytics)
  • Provide portfolio and product to help inform the Director of Credit & Underwriting of the need to propose changes to Policy (Analytics)
  • Work with Credit &Underwriting in refining the lending parameters of the Invoice Discounting business (Analytics) and or future product lines
  • Review impacts of new lending products on the portfolio (Analytics)
  • Analysis & Regular oversight of any Lending Product MI produced from external sources of product supplies.
  • Daily management, monitoring & collation of MI from external lending partners.
  • Support specific provisioning decision process (New Product Lending)
  • Review the analysis against economic considerations to provide recommendations to support credit policy and strategic direction
  • Initiate deep dives into the core lending and product portfolios to review specific segments of those portfolios.
  • Identify issues and opportunities through the data by using cutting edge analytical techniques to explore opportunities and understand performance triggers
  • Play a key role in portfolio strategy and direction relating to new and existing products, policies, and other strategic decisions
  • Drive insights and design, develop and implement strategies for new customer acquisitions
  • Deep dive into trend analysis to understand the Impairment and Provisioning data and produce insights on same
  • Actively work with internal teams and identify work-flow enhancements to reduce/eliminate manual steps, dependency on people and handoffs
  • Develop key metrics to improve business needs/requirements
  • Defining and implementing new process workflow.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level, or proven experience in a Strategic or Modelling role for a consumer banking portfolio
  • Good knowledge of credit risk, covering secured, unsecured and SME lending. Knowledge of Invoice discounting is essential.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills required
  • Proven Analytical skills within a Credit Risk environment
  • Ability to understand business, processes, workflows and business objectives and develop key metrics to deliver the business goal.
  • Hands-on experience and solid skills of credit risk modelling, working in a data-driven or quantitative role within financial services
  • Experience processing/mining/manipulating large datasets and understanding of risk data infrastructure/systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and, at the same time, support the wider project team as needed
  • Excellent Excel modelling and analysis skills.
  • Good knowledge of financial planning process.
  • Analysis skills evidenced through portfolio performance analysis and specific issue analysis.
  • Well organised with strong attention to details. Proficiency in performing data analysis and reporting utilising a standard statistical package.
  • Collaboration with team members and with cross functional teams involving numerous colleagues both internal and external. Is open to share knowledge and support more junior colleagues.
