At Pearson, we have an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our team based at 80 Strand and reporting to the London-based Internal Audit Director. You will be a key member of an Internal Audit team who are responsible for audits globally. The work will involve up to 30% international and UK travel when required.

In this important role, you will be primarily responsible for contributing to the delivery of the audit plan by undertaking specific audit assignments. The audit work involves preparing work papers in support of work performed; discussing findings with management; and drafting audit observations.


CONTEXT


Pearson TQ (part of the Pearson Group) is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies both in the UK and overseas. This role will support the Functional Skills delivery as part of the Royal Engineer Apprenticeship contract with the MoD, as well as other Pearson TQ Work Based Learning contracts.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE


  • Perform audit planning, fieldwork and documentation of work papers in line with departmental policies and internal audit standards
  • Report observations and discuss action plans to address observations with management
  • Prepare sections of the draft audit report for review by audit manager
  • Prepare and adhere to budget for audits with travel
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and/or reviews as required
  • Lead audits when opportunities arise
  • Assist with internal investigations.


OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE



We welcome applications from audit professionals with post-qualification experience at an accountancy firm and / or within a large organisation's internal audit department. We require a completed accounting qualification in ACA/ACCA/CIMA/equivalent. We are interested in applicants with a background in accounting and / or auditing with an understanding of internal control and internal audit methodology. You'll have the ability to understand the company's operational policies and procedures, key business processes and overall company objectives. You'll need good organisational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and deliver to deadlines.

To be successful in this role, we expect good communication and influencing skills - both written and verbal - along with a collaborative approach to working within a team and with colleagues across the business. This role would be suitable for an innovative professional with digital and commercial awareness. It would be an advantage to have exposure to major ERP systems, preferably Oracle, along with exposure to IT Audit techniques and data analytics tools and methods.
