Finance goes beyond accounting

Today’s financial markets are changing – maybe more than they have ever been. Emerging technology, new competitors and people’s changing expectations of their banks are just a few of the things that are shaping our industry.

Our role, in Finance, goes beyond accounting. We analyse those changes and advise our business and clients across the UK on their next move. We’re here to uncover patterns they haven’t yet seen, assess the financial impact, and help them shape new strategies. Given the speed at which these changes are happening, our work has a noticeable impact on the future of the bank and our purpose to help Britain prosper.

If our Finance Graduate Scheme for you?

Are you resourceful and passionate about building great relationships? If you are, you could join us in Finance. This three-year graduate scheme offers you Finance placements in Bristol and London, where you’ll discover what it means to be a key partner in decision-making.

Finance teams are the trusted advisors to our business. Our people come from diverse backgrounds but are all analytically minded, pragmatic and resilient. They try to see things in a different light; taking large amounts of complex information and uncovering the stories they tell. And, once they understand how a business works, they can develop strategies that help transform it, within a fast-changing industry.

Whatever your degree, if you love finding solutions and are excited to learn from colleagues across all levels of our business, we’ll help you to grow as a Finance specialist.

What you'll learn on the Finance Graduate Scheme

This three-year graduate scheme offers you Finance placements in Bristol and London, where you’ll discover what it means to be a key partner in decision-making.

Your placements will be in:

CORE FINANCE (Bristol)

CUSTOMER (London)

While you complete these, we’ll support you to study for a professional accounting qualification – CIMA. And, given that Finance supports all of our business areas, you’ll have opportunities to grow a diverse network of colleagues and contacts across Lloyds Banking Group, too.

By the end of the scheme, you’ll have greater awareness of your abilities and interests, and a genuine understanding of how your work makes an impact.

The work you could be doing

  • Analysing data to develop business cases
  • Building relationships with colleagues and customers to better understand their needs and create solutions to meet these
  • Reviewing our practices and contributing ideas on the ways we can improve them
  • Learning about regulatory frameworks and our businesses so you can start to provide high-quality financial advice and insights to internal customers
  • Creating presentations, strategic and financial updates or investor slides, that give insightful commentary

Eligibility to work

At Lloyds Banking Group we value and actively seek a diverse workforce. If you wish to make an application and are successful for our Graduate or Undergraduate Schemes, it is essential that you have the right to work in the UK at the date of commencement. We will ask you questions about your current status through the application process and check right to work documents before you join. At that time, we will have full Government guidance on the new immigration system.

The UK immigration system for Skilled Workers and International Graduates is changing with effect from 1 January 2021; these new rules will be relevant to Graduates and Undergraduates joining the 2021 Schemes. All applicants are assessed on their skills and abilities. We will discuss right to work and, if necessary, sponsorship by Lloyds Banking Group under the new Skilled Worker route with those applicants that are successful in reaching the final stages of the process.  At that time, we will have the full details of the new immigration system available to us. Sponsorship is subject to all the appropriate criteria specified by UK Visas & Immigration, being satisfied. Lloyds Banking Group is unable to offer a guarantee that an application for a Skilled Worker visa to the UK Visas & Immigration will be successful.

EU nationals that are residents in the UK before the end of 2020 can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme for settled or pre-settled status which will give right to work on the Graduate and Undergraduate Schemes.  Applicants that are not resident before the end of 2020, or do not meet the criteria for the EU Settlement Scheme, will need to consider right to work options.
