The main purpose of the role is to support the Head of Audit & Reporting in managing and ensuring that data is complete, accurate and compliant with ESFA and other Government contract regulations. You will plan and execute funding audits on a sample basis in line with the funding rules, DSAT and Funding Monitoring Reports to provide assurance that all contractual obligations are being met and risks to funding are identified and addressed. You will support the introduction, implementation and maintenance of external accreditation.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Follow a risk-based audit schedule, take part and coordinate the completion of sample data audits in line with the audit guidance, working papers and approved strategy
  • Development and implementation of performance and intervention audits; taking an investigative approach to compliance, minimising the risk of non-compliance
  • To support the internal audit funding; produce and analyse monthly DSAT and FMR reports, identifying key trends and potential non compliances, carrying out and tracking corrective actions to ensure data is accurate in preparation for PFA Audit
  • Produce audit reports and feedback audit findings to relevant stakeholders within one-week audit completion
  • Identify trends in management information, producing reports and provide opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Take a positive approach to the improvement of performance by carrying out performance/intervention audits, recommend and monitor target actions
  • To work with internal departments to create actions plans following audit findings and follow through to completion
  • Manage and contribute to the preparation of external audit and review
  • Keep up to date with developments in the sector, including changes in the funding rules and data requirements
  • Communicate effectively with operational and central support teams to reinforce where funds are at risk
  • Provide support and guidance to subcontract partners, associates and staff in implementing processes and actions to reduce errors
  • Use DSAT's and FMR reports to test and feedback results with recommendations to Head of Audit & Reporting, overseeing error correction
  • Liaise with the Head of Audit & Assurance and MIS Team to perform changes in systems, processes and data
  • Interpret funding guidance to continuously review policy approach in line with operational practice
  • Recommend changes in processes and procedures because of findings
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in the sector relating to funding, audit and achievement rate methodologies
  • Maintain documentation evidence of audit to ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Ensure all sensitive data is held securely following LCG policies and procedures

Essential

  • Must have experience in a similar auditing role
  • Experience of executing and implementing audit strategies
  • Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of ESFA and ESF Funding Rules and working papers in relation to audits
  • Preparing and presenting management reports to a high standard
  • Educated to level 3 or above (equivalent to A-Levels)
  • Educated to level 2 English and Maths
  • Experience of planning and implementing process changes
  • Experience of carrying out audits
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Provide effective solutions
