About the role

We are offering a unique opportunity for you to be part of the dynamic EMEA Reinsurance Risk Management team, working on a number of interesting strategic regulatory topics such as sustainability and digitalisation, with a lot of exposure to senior management and external stakeholders (including policymakers, regulators and clients).
As our Senior Risk and Regulatory Officer Europe, you will help to strengthen Swiss Re's market leadership as a risk knowledge company by proactively identifying, assessing and monitoring risks across EMEA. You will work closely with various internal functions to develop Swiss Re's positions on regulatory topics for use in external engagement and input to public consultations. You will also support Swiss Re's Senior Management in risk discussions with European regulators, trade associations and clients.

responsibilities:


• Develop a clear understanding of the European risk landscape and become an expert on the European regulatory risks which impact Swiss Re.

• Manage supervisory relationships with European regulators (e.g. European Commission, EIOPA).

• Coordinate responses to European regulatory requests and input to public consultations.

• Support Legal Entity CROs with respect to managing risks to Swiss Re's European businesses.

• Support Swiss Re's Senior Management in their engagement with regulators and trade associations on the European risk landscape.

• Collaborate with internal functions to assess and steer regulatory developments in the region in order to mitigate risks and support business opportunities.

• Represent Swiss Re's interests towards EMEA regulators, policymakers, trade associations.

• Internal communication and reporting of European risk landscape.

About the Team

About You

You have:

• A university degree or equivalent in Law, Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, Political Science or International Relations) or Finance.

• At least 5+ years of professional-level work experience dealing with insurance regulatory topics in a governmental agency, regulatory authority or company.

• Excellent Commercial awareness and technical knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance risk landscape.

• A clear understanding of the European risk landscape and an expert in European regulatory risks.

• Strong interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators.

• Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing in English.

• Ability to assimilate and summarize complex issues into concise memos/ presentations.

• Strong influencing skills.

• Stamina and persistence to pursue policy advocacy efforts.

• A successful track record in working in a diverse multinational environment with teams and stakeholders based in various locations.

• Able to travel regularly to various locations within Europe (e.g. Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt);
