Description of the Business Line or Department
FSO UK provides fund accounting services to UK based clients. Key functions are undertaken by our offshore provider and therefore one of the key roles of FSO UK is to execute a governance and oversight programme to ensure the outputs from the offshore provider are timely and accurate.
FSO also has a key role to play in the sales process and nurturing ongoing relationships with clients.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
This is a dual-purpose role;
75% - of the role is working on the Reports and Accounts team, supporting the BAU process to produce the Financial Statements.
25% of the role is as Business Analyst working on automating processes within FSOUK.
Reports and Accounts
  • Working closely with the support team in Paris to further grow the Audit Pack and GP3 knowledge centred around this.
  • Training the Reports and Accounts Team to understand and produce Audit Pack, removing this dependency from Paris.
  • Production, financial statement under UK SORP regulations and governance of offshore services ensuring outputs are timely, accurate and compliant
  • Controlling external audit teams and detailed proof reading of Report & Account
  • Controls and governance of offshore services ensuring outputs are timely, accurate and compliant
  • Ensure that all clients receive an ongoing high-quality service
  • Ensure that accounting standards and policies are continually maintained
  • Helping to ensure greater governance around the Audit reporting cycles.
Business Analyst
  • End to End co-ordination, management and execution of change within the department.
  • Main ITEC contact about our Information System Improvement.
  • Responsible for ITEC/Business Workshop leading, BRD, Business tests, Change management, user guide.
  • BRS governance contributor (Cross-Countries enhancements, BRS and ITEC committees).
  • Support the UK Road Map
  • Key Responsibilities
Reports & Accounts
  • Controls and governance of offshore services ensuring outputs are timely, accurate and compliant
  • Ensure that all clients receive an ongoing high-quality service
  • Ensure that accounting standards and policies are continually maintained
  • Review and proof checking of PDF report and accounts provided by FSO UK
  • Production, review and proof checking of Audit files to PDF doc provided by FSO UK
  • Balance sheet reviews
  • Impact analysis of regulatory and accounting changes
  • Provide BA type support and expertise to excel template creation and enhance developments
Business Analyst
  • Analysis and documentation of change requests and developments (internal led and client led)
  • Co-ordination, management and execution of changes impacting the department:
  • Client and fund on-boarding
  • System changes and improvements (Excellent Fund Accounting GP3 knowledge is essential)
  • Process changes and improvements
  • Regulatory change
  • Product development
  • Co-ordination and execution of training to support the smooth implementation of change
  • Testing of system and process changes
  • Single point of contact for IT
  • Ensure the administration of UK funds is using the optimal processes available within the organisation
Delegated Responsibilities
  • Proof reading of financial statements and mark-up of documentation. Cross casting of comparative statements and prior period values. To ensure quality of output on an ongoing basis.
  • Monthly reporting based on client requirements, using excel templates.
  • Formatting of test scrip's for enhanced template upgrades.
  • Excellent understanding of general ledger TB, to balance sheet & P&L level
  • Familiar with UK SORP and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Understanding of P&L and distribution impact at share class level.
  • Excellent understanding of excel (advance to Macro level) and PDF applications.
  • Dealing with external audit teams and controlling audit sign-off.
Level of Autonomy and Authority
  • Enabled to make decisions on all Financial Reporting matters through contact with the offshore service provider, clients and auditors.

Competencies
  • Extensive experience of producing Financial Reports for UK funds either gained with an asset manager or service provider.
  • Extensive knowledge of the SORP and accounting standards to which UK funds must comply.
  • Basic Knowledge tax calculations.
  • Experience of producing ONS returns.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to the production of report and accounts.
  • Some exposure to BA & with excel skills & development.
  • Good understanding of requirements for UK funds
  • Well organised and forward thinking.
  • Able to work under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Self-managing
  • Willingness to operate at any level to meet requirements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and due process
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple deliverables with overlapping timeframes
Education
  • Part qualified accountant or working towards such a qualification
  • T&C qualified
