As a Financial Controller you will oversee the production of the financial, regulatory and liquidity reporting requirements for the Business Unit Legal Entities, ensuring the appropriate financial controls are maintained.

About the role

You will lead, own and co-ordinate the production of the monthly legal entity numbers for the Business Unit Legal Entities. You'll prepare the applicable statutory, regulatory and liquidity reporting for the Business Unit Legal Entities, ensuring it adheres with all standards, policies and delivery deadlines.

You'll take responsibility for management of the Balance Sheet, including overseeing key areas of judgement, and will risk assess balance sheet items and perform deep dives in higher risk areas.

you'll act as main contact point for external auditors, prepare papers for Legal Entity board meetings, as and when required and attend Legal Entity board meetings, as and when required.

You'll manage ongoing review of entities to identify whether any can be struck off, and working with the Company Secretarial team to wind down entities where they are no longer required. You'll also work closely with the tax team to ensure tax reporting and provisions are consistent and accurate with corporate standards, as well as working closely with the Group's Head of Technical Accounting to ensure compliance with the applicable accounting standards.

You'll ensure compliance with all finance policies and procedures and will maintain a robust financial control environment, building and maintaining strong partnerships with the other members of the wider finance team to share best practice and standards and agree adoption where appropriate.

You'll assist in managing and implementing any required changes to financial reporting, systems or procedures smoothly and efficiently and ensure all accounting and financial processes are fully documented and remain up-to-date, reflecting any changes in policy or regulation. You'll lead and manage the financial accounting team and empower them to achieve their objectives, and work to have a strong succession plan.

About you

You'll have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders and a range of stakeholders across the organisation, as well as the ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity, navigate complex organisational structures, managing multiple stakeholders and service providers within a matrix environment.

You'll have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong attention to detail, able to produce high quality, timely deliverables. You'll have credibility, professionalism and strong personal integrity and strong negotiation and influencing skills.

You'll be able to work in a complex and changing environment, embracing change and initiating new and better ways of working to deliver positive customer outcomes with a proactive approach to the resolution of problems and obstacles, escalating issues as required. You'll embrace a collaborative working environment to achieve shared objectives and act as a role model for the Quilter values - Pioneering, Dependable, Stronger Together.

You'll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with several years PQE. You'll have experience of working in a Finance function within Financial Services (including capital, regulatory and liquidity requirements) or Big 4 audit experience would be advantageous. Strong knowledge of applicable Financial and Regulatory Reporting requirements (e.g. IFRS, SII) is also required.

You'll also have experience of managing a small team and mentoring and training junior staff, with strong interpersonal and relationship management capability.

You'll have the ability to interrogate systems and navigate complex infrastructure and organisation, as well as strong people leadership and change skills and familiarity with working with multiple stakeholders and to tight timescales in a delivery focused fashion. You'll have experience of working in a highly results-orientated, growth and performance driven environment, with a focus on excellence.
