REAL ESTATE FUND MANAGER - SENIOR FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

My client is a real estate fund manager with in excess of £150m if AUM. A spin out from a successful and established Private Credit strategy fund manager, this fund manager is seeking to increase AUM and produce top quartile returns for its institutional investor set. This is an opportunity for a Senior Financial Controller to join a small, entrepreneurial team, with a view to swift progression to Finance Director for the right calibre of candidate. Reporting direct to the founders of the business, the Financial Controller will have full responsibility for internal and external reporting, both at deal and fund level, and will also oversee management company reporting.

In addition to the new real estate portfolio, the FC will also oversee the reporting for two legacy funds spun out of the Private Credit strategy. All fund accounting is performed by external administrators, and the Financial Controller will need to quickly develop an excellent relationship with these 3rd party service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• IFRS Financial & Regulatory Reporting
• Review and approval of IFRS / Local (statutory) GAAP financials within the fund structure
• Review of management accounts
• Management and oversight of the fund administrators/SPV external accounting service providers
• Review of fund and investor performance returns calculations
• Distribution calculations - forecast and actual
• Management of the annual audit process for relevant funds and entities
• Financial loan covenant calculation and reporting
• Preparation of financial information for internal and external Boards and Committees
• As hoc reporting to fund boards and management teams
• Monitoring and management of tax filings / tax compliance for income/corporate tax, withholding tax, capital gains tax, value add tax and FATCA
• Oversight of compliance function
• Cash management across the entire fund structure
• Risk & Investment restrictions monitoring and reporting

Requirements:

• 4+years of asset management industry experience, working within Real Estate and/or other real asset classes, whether in house or in an administration firm
• Knowledge of UK and Luxembourg based fund structures
• Strong understanding of: Current accounting standards (IFRS and Lux GAAP); Accounting for real assets activities and complex transactions; Common fund structures and tax issues
• Knowledge of local corporate taxation requirements
• Oversight and management of third-party fund administrators, accountants, tax advisors etc
• ACA / ACCA qualified
