JOB TITLE:
FINANCE DIRECTOR

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive Officer


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • OVERALL CONTROL OF THE FINANCE FUNCTION
  • DRIVE PROFIT AND CASH IMPROVEMENT
  • LEAD FINANCIAL STRATEGY
  • COMMERCIAL AWARENESS THROUGHOUT THE BUSINESS


KEY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the company's accounting function and for the company cash management policies
  • Provide leadership to the Board's Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company's financial performance and strategic position
  • Promote a greater understanding of the financial consequences of decision making throughout the business
  • Work closely with the Managing Director on the Business Strategy and aid in its implementation through organic growth by identifying and exploiting any potential external opportunities (including acquisitions)
  • Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers
  • Provide robust, regular reporting on the commercial, financial and working capital progress of the company, including product costing and profitability
  • Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth
  • Lead and develop the finance team
  • Lead the forecasting and budgeting processes
  • Experience transitioning the business from a recent Fund raise to organic growth, cost saving and a 3 - 5 year exit plan
  • Lead the drive for efficiency, economy and effectiveness across the business, leading to profit improvement and working capital requirements including stock and supply chain management
  • Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met, including audit
  • Manage the IT and infrastructure estate
  • Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including customers and advisors


PERSON DESCRIPTION


  • Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.
  • Prior Private Equity backed experience essential
  • Meet the requirement for a commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
  • A manager who can demonstrate the ability to delegate tasks to their team as part of their development
  • Exceptional communication and team-working skills at all levels
  • Audit (covering Tech or digital) finance background desirable
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making
  • High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance
  • Energetic, highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and success
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to present the core aspects of an argument
