You will be responsible for the end to end payment process, ensuring timely payment of customer balances, management of customer payment methods, and collecting overdue balances in line with company policies and processes, ensuring timely and appropriate action where payment hasn't been received within the customers agreed payment terms.


Furthermore, you will manage a team of Credit Controllers, overseeing performance, and supporting continuous personal development.


Responsibilities include:


  • Prepare weekly and month-end reporting for management review.
  • Management of a team of Credit Controllers managing debt chasing by way of automated letters, telephone calls and emails, ensuring KPI's are achieved.
  • Work within the terms of the Receivables Insurance Policy to keep exposure to an agreed level.
  • Work closely with the Billing & Settlements manager to ensure debt-related customer queries are prioritised.
  • Liaise with the Head of TPI Relationships and TPI Sales Manager to ensure effective engagement with TPIs who are listed as the primary billing contact.
  • Take responsibility for external relationships with credit management, legal, third-party collection, and disconnection service providers, ensuring performance meets agreed service levels.
  • Lead the continual review of debt collection processes and systems, identifying and communicating areas for improvement.


Required Skills & experience


  • A strong commercial awareness and a history of working with high-value transactions.
  • Proven experience leading a team of people in a Credit Control environment.
  • Experience working with Excel;
  • Knowledge of Electricity or Gas retail preferred but not essential
