Credit Control Manager - Totnes

Basic salary up to £33,000 + company bonus up to 10% of salary

The role...

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter to lead and support our credit control team in providing a timely and efficient service to the business, ensuring that debt reduction targets are met. With your natural leadership style you will promote a culture of ownership, flexibility and teamwork and support individuals with their development through training and mentoring. Using an innovative and solution based approach you will take a lead in improving systems and processes and driving positive change.

Key tasks:

  • Effectively managing the credit control team to ensure targets and deadlines are met
  • Working with Operations to ensure client set up is in line with Company procedure
  • Ensuring the client contract database is kept up to date
  • Implementing effective methods for monitoring the performance of the team
  • Processing invoices in line with customer agreements and resolving any queries on Rates and Grades
  • Producing reports for Senior Management and Operations as required
  • Ensuring invoices are paid within business terms
  • Setting, monitoring and enforcing credit limits in accordance with company procedure
  • Issuing procedural letters as per company deadlines (reminder letters, pre legal letters etc.)
  • Timely and regular review of credit stopped clients to ensure appropriate level of customer service
  • Issue court documentation where applicable up to point of either a) going to court or b) instructing bailiffs
  • Ensuring bad debts are kept under regular review and appropriate provisions are made
  • Administering Direct Debit payment scheme
  • Consolidating client accounts

To be successful within this role you will need:

  • At least 2 years' experience of managing a credit control function within a commercial organisation
  • Good understanding of balance sheet analysis, credit risk, financial exposure and setting credit limits
  • A natural leader with a track record of developing and mentoring team members
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to discuss and present verbally and in writing to all levels of management in a concise manner.
  • Team Player with the ability to engage and work with colleagues in a cross-functional environment
  • Flexible and adaptive with the ability to manage daily workload and commitments
  • Willing to listen, encourage and support ideas from all levels within the organisation
  • Ability to support and challenge non-financial managers
  • Passionate about providing high level service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of contractual review and negotiation of terms and conditions
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to work on own initiative
  • High problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with high personal energy
