Who we are, and what we do

PEG delivers Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG's anchor product - a basic solar home system that includes six lights, a phone charger, a radio, and a TV - allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time.

To date, PEG has raised over $50 million and has over 450 full time staff across Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal. PEG has also won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2017 Ashden International Award for excellence in sustainable energy, and was named as one of the "fastest growing companies in Africa" by the London Stock Exchange.

The Position:

The candidate will be supporting the Director of Corporate Finance, the CFO and the CEO with external fundraising and debtors' management.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing investor reporting and debt draw down processes, including preparing and sending all regular reports and compliance certificates in conjunction with the PEG reporting team, and addressing any questions or ad hoc requests coming from investors
  • Capital raising: Supporting the Director of Corporate Finance and CEO with all external fundraising including debt, equity and convertibles
  • Reviewing transaction documentation and ad-hoc legal documentation (deeds, facility agreements, KYC, etc)
  • Senior Debt-facility management: Manage the Draw down process of the debt-facility with the lenders, support loan amendments and waivers
  • Financial model: Working with the group finance team to update and build out the group financial model as required; including additional functionality or scenarios as required by investors
  • Working with the Director of Corporate Finance to develop optimal capital structure based on group financing needs

  • The successful candidate must have:
  • Must be a CFA or equivalent ACCA
  • 5+ years of work in an investment role at a relevant institution, such as DFI, investment fund, investment bank, financial advisor, or 5+ years of work in a company in a similar role
  • Fluency in English, French is a plus
  • Experience with a range of financing products such as senior and sub-debt, equity, convertibles, etc
  • Ability to review and build out complex financial models, including developing and running scenarios for investors
  • Experience with reviewing and editing relevant legal documents including: NDAs, term sheets, loan documents (facility agreement, guarantees, security documents), corporate resolutions, etc.
  • Track record of supporting or leading transactions to successful close, including experience in an investor-facing position
  • Specific experience in capital raising, either as an investor, advisor or within a company. This must include familiarity with valuation models, due diligence processes, setting up and managing data rooms, answering investor questions, as well as experience negotiating term sheets and other legal documents (loan agreements, intercreditor and security documents etc)
  • Strong communication skills, team player, project management and prioritization skills, while being able to work independently
  • Experience in successfully managing the expectations of multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and efficient organizer
  • Able to initiate and complete individual projects, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
