The Business Enablement and Support (BE&S) group delivers well-connected, efficient and effective corporate services that enable our people to do their best work every day. The essential services, support, tools and resources we provide help make the Ministry a great place to work.
The Payroll team within BE&S provides high quality, timely and accurate payroll services for all Ministry employees.

About this role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Payroll Manager is a pivotal role leading a team of payroll specialists to ensure the provision of high quality, timely and accurate payroll services for all Ministry employees.
The role is also responsible for building and enhancing the overall capability and effectiveness of the team to ensure quality and consistent advice and practices in relation to the teams work.

About you
We are looking for an experienced, energetic and enthusiastic Payroll Manager who is looking for the next challenge to develop their career.
To be successful in this role you will offer:

* Experience and achievement in managing a Payroll function in a large organisation
* Comprehensive knowledge of employment and other legislation relating to payroll operations
* Prior experience of working with Payroll and HRIS applications
* Proven leadership skills including demonstrated ability to engage and motivate staff
* A confident and proactive approach to relationship management and problem solving to provide high quality customer service
* Excellent communication skills and proven ability to effectively influence and provide specialist advice to managers
* The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
