Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Division Director, Finance and Administration to provide leadership for the ASCO accounting organization, including formulating, and administering financial policies and managing financial systems and processes. Assure that external and internal financial statements, tax returns, and other financial reports are accurate and timely. Manage accounting and related financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage finance supervisors and staff to assure efficient transaction processing and delivery of timely and accurate financial statements.  Coordinate and lead the implementation of automation and other efficiency efforts.
  • Assure financial operations and reporting are compliant with GAAP, tax, and other regulations, and incorporates strong internal control.
  • Working closely with outside accountants, manage the preparation of audited financial statements and Form 990, and Form 990T returns.
  • Interpret complex financial arrangements, organizations, and requests for multiple views of financial information in order to develop, communicate, and implement required changes to transaction processing, financial reporting, and related activities. Negotiate and influence others to understand and accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Coordinate closely with Division Director, Budget, and Planning on chart of accounts and reporting to assure that the capture of actual transactions aligns with the budget and that the budget reflects the appropriate accounting for transactions.
  • Assure management receives needed financial information to adjust operations and understand expenditures against budget.

Required Education and Experience

  • Advanced accounting or business degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least 15+ years of relevant experience with managing audits, accounting supervisors, in a multi-entity organization
  • Deep understanding of GAAP requirements and not-for-profit tax reporting
  • Comfort working with non-financial staff (program managers, legal, etc.) to obtain information needed for financial reporting

Preferred Education and Experience

  • CPA or CMA preferred
