We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tax Manager to join a leading Healthcare provider based in their head office in Reading. This is a superb opportunity to be part of a national brand, joining an established and dynamic team with fantastic career opportunities and benefits.

As the Tax Manager you will be responsible for helping the company to meet its various statutory and regulatory obligations to promote best practice with respect to tax and ensuring compliance with legislation.

The role requires a mixed tax background with strong VAT experience and a proven record of process change management.

Main

Responsibilities:

  • Driving the Making Tax Digital VAT project and process improvement from a VAT compliance perspective
  • Delivery and ownership of the VAT compliance process
  • Key partner in the IR35 project, working closing with HR to ensure full compliance ahead of April 2021 and beyond
  • Delivery and ownership of the Corporation Tax Compliance cycle including preparation of tax returns, QIPs and maintaining accurate transfer pricing documentation
  • Delivery of tax provisions under IFRS as part of the reporting cycle and year end statutory reporting.
  • Review the preparation of PAYE compliance (e.g. PSA, P11D, and Form 42).
  • Ownership of the tax balance sheet accounts and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Tax technical research and drafting responses to ad hoc enquiries from the business covering indirect, direct and employment taxes.
  • Responsible for the proactive education of the Group for relevant tax changes and their impact

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CTA with diverse post-qualification experience in a tax setting
  • Experience in a tax-based role in-house (with previous exposure to corporate, employment and VAT desirable) or actively looking to move in house from a practice background
  • Good tax technical skills, with a solid background in compliance.
  • Microsoft Excel skills to a good standard (e.g. competent in pivot tables, vlookup, "IF" formulae etc).
  • Previous experience using Alphatax, AlphaVAT, SAP and business objects are desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HMRC, external auditors and external advisors, as well as the ability to articulate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work effectively to deliver timely outcomes.
