An exciting opportunity has come available with a key client for a Payroll Improvement Lead on a 6 month FTC.

Day to day duties;

Ensure clear understanding of the consultancy company's report out and develop realistic plan to address the issues raised
Define clear accountabilities for the various teams involved in the process
Define the channels through which the teams involved in the process interact with each other
Ensure the interface between payroll systems and the general ledger is controlled and financial data held in both is aligned
Ensure the Excel cost models supporting the allocation of payroll costs are consistent and robustly designed.
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations of payroll control accounts are regularly performed and balances are cleared off the accounts in a timely manner
Deliver good project management of the Payroll workstream, in conjunction with FiP PMO.

Ideal candidate;

Experienced senior accountant with strong payroll experience or payroll process improvement practitioner, with extensive experience
Outsourced payroll shared services experience obtained within a similar operating model and the same sector
Accounting or relevant payroll qualification and a good understanding of internal controls
7+ years of previous payroll related experience is essential;
Experience in a similar role within a multi-site business, contract based is desirable;
Prior experience of working with a captive and outsourced payroll is desirable.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to tight deadlines
Ability to understand the detail behind processes
Good level of IT skills including intermediate / advanced MS Excel
