About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Technical Reporting team, where we are looking to recruit a Technical Reporting Accountant.

The Technical Reporting Accountant is the Group's IFRS accountancy expert. Supported by the Technical Reporting Manager and the wider finance team, the Technical Reporting Accountant contributes in the production of the Group's annual and interim accounts and takes responsibility for the subsidiary accounts, including functioning as a first point of contact for external auditors.

A key part of the role is project based work. Project work can include the implementation of new IFRSs and IFRICs as well as collaborating with other departments to support the Group in a variety of projects and ad hoc accounting questions. This includes drafting external publications as well as accounting papers and policies for approval at committees.

The Technical Reporting Accountant is part of the Technical Reporting team. In addition to accounting and statutory reporting the Team is responsible for taxation and regulatory reporting. Working closely with the respective subject matter experts on tax and regulatory reporting, the Technical Reporting Accountant will gain hands on experience across regulatory reporting and taxation functions and also become skilled in the administration of the Group's capital reporting.

Given the variety of projects the Technical Reporting team is involved in, there is significant scope for the successful candidate to shape their role in line with their interests.

What else?

The Technical Reporting team is part of the Group Finance function. Group Finance comprises a number of teams which cover all things financial for the group including preparation of Statutory and Regulatory Reporting, Management Accounts, Budgeting and Forecasting, Payment of Suppliers, Bank Reconciliations, Payroll, Treasury Operations and providing Business Information to the Society.

About You

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with good technical knowledge of accounting standards, experience in interpreting these and an ability to apply these in practical contexts. You will be driven and able to complete project work independently, but also willing to ask for help where needed. You are proactively supporting other teams and the wider business, anticipating the impact of new accounting rules on the Group and the impact of the Group's future projects upon accounting matters.
