Cobham Mission Systems in Wimborne have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant.

Reporting to the head of financial accounting, the financial accountant will play a key role in maintaining and developing the general ledger (P&L and BS), reviewing processes to identify areas for improvement and/or simplification, with an overall objective of facilitating more efficient, accurate and valuable financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in audit and management accounting, and therefore may have qualified in audit and now be looking for their 2nd move in industry.

This permenant role is based in Wimborne, Dorset.

As a Financial Accountant, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Part or Fully Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Self-drive and initiative in order to get things done, whilst able to identify own limitations and have confidence to request support where needed
Conscientious and analytical - driven to deliver insightful information that is right first time
Initiative and perseverance in order to undertake finance related projects alone, with the awareness and confidence to know when to request support
Ability to prioritise workload and manage own areas of responsibility in order to meet deadlines, whilst also playing a key role in supporting the team to meet overall objectives
Confidence to query, challenge, suggest new ideas and implement improvements

As a Financial Accountant, your main responsibilities will involve:

Maintenance and simplification of general ledger (selected areas)
Ensuring accurate reporting (to group, auditors etc) in line with relevant accounting standards; reviewing/challenging existing methodology and team understanding where appropriate
Overheads (reporting and providing insightful analysis)
Capex (reporting and management of fixed asset register)
Journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations for areas of responsibility
Budgeting and forecasting for areas of responsibility; providing insightful analysis into material/key variances
Month end processes (taking accountability for own areas as well as supporting the team as a whole)
Review and where necessary challenge/improve financial controls and documentation procedures
Liaising with external consultants (tax, audit etc) and stakeholders from across the wider business; supporting information requests etc
