Job Description - Senior Finance Manager (200833)Job Description Senior Finance Manager - (200833) Description ResponsibilitiesPricing ContractsPartner with account teams in pricing client proposals, responding to RFP/I's and developing budgets Facilitate negotiation of client and vendor contracts between clients/vendors, account staff/senior management and legal department, including full review of all business terms.Ensure that projects are managed in accordance with contracts; create summary sheets for account teams Ensures written client agreement is obtained (via contract, letter of agreement, signed SOW) for all work and are appropriately archived and classified. Liaise with Contract Specialist and Contract office. Negotiation and analysis of bill rates, volume discounts and other financial incentives. Client Reporting & Audits Assist account teams with monthly project budget tracking and other required client reportingSupervise client auditsCommunicate with clients regarding budgets, billing and accounts receivable issuesMaintain catalog of required client reporting and ensure timely completionDevelop and maintain strategic relationships with procurement/purchasing contacts where applicableDetermines strategic approach to managing individual clients auditsFinancial Management Analysis and PlanningReview monthly fee and expense detail; analyze monthly financial statements for accuracy and explain significant variances to budget or forecast. Develop annual operating budgets and maintain accurate quarterly projections.Provide senior management with monthly financial package describing results to date, forward projections compared to budget and commentary around noticeable trendsAnalyze management reports and identify and communicate areas of concern and suggested improvements to account staff and management (e.g., client profitability, utilization, over/under service, missing time, revenue risk and staffing plans) Prepares staffing and revenue plans Capital expenditures/cash needs planning, forecasting and monitoring Overall accountability for accuracy of department's financials including client billing, pricing, receivables, financial statements, operating budgets and quarterly projectionsRevenue RecognitionEnsure local compliance with US GAAP and business processes Billing/Cash Flow ManagementSupervise monthly billing and service order processes and analytical reviews of related reports. Review time and expense write-offs and unbilled WIPEnsure processing of service orders timely.Work with local leadership to minimize risk exposure surrounding accounts receivables and credit requirements of clientsProject & Resource MgtDrive profitability by working with unit's management to improve client and resource managementReview staffing utilization, realization, and capacity and proactively communicate meaningful observations to GM's.Work with local HR team to ensure that all new hire requests meet profitability targets General ManagementEnsure department compliance with company financial policies Participate in development and implementation of various initiatives, policies and procedures relating to the overall area of client finance within Edelman. Examples include maintaining job descriptions, creating and delivering Edel-U finance classes, creation of client finance training manuals Partner with Finance Director on developing processes, best practices and tools for the Region to migrate from transactional finance to strategic counsel Ad hoc requests and projectsPeople DevelopmentContribute to performance appraisal process for peers and managersDesign and engage in team building activitiesSupervise and train Finance personnel and be accountable for their workProvide ongoing constructive feedback and consistently hold staff accountable for performance Train account staff on internal finance systems, procedures and financial project management Ensure performance expectations, career development plan and SMART goals are set and reviewed annually during the formal performance review process for all direct reports Work with senior staff and HR, when needed, to address under-performance in a timely mannerHelp mentor, coach and support team membersSet achievable goals and tasks, delegate opportunities and provide resources for staff to meet their goals; consistently measure and reward goal achievementParticipate in building of training materials and classes for Client Finance resources across the wider RegionLeadershipDemonstrate behaviours consistent with Edelman's values, Code of Ethics and Business ConductSet and pursue challenging goals for yourself and your staffLead by exampleCommit to continuous learning and building your technical and leadership skillsHelp motivate and coach teams to produce quality work and meet client objectivesShare best practices, good ideasIn Return we will offer a competitive salary and some fantastic benefits.
