As one of three Directors, the Director of Strategic (Finance & Business) Planning is a key member of the Senior Management Team, with a primary function of strategic financial planning, support and enablement of our services and future business development.


Key Result Areas


  • Develop a strong collaborative working relationship with the CEO, supporting with strategic decision-making and delivery
  • Design and implement operational and financial systems and processes, which are appropriate for the organisation
  • Prioritise and coordinate expenditure and investment - thus enabling the smooth running and growth of company operations
  • Ensure that the long-term financial and operational impacts of strategic decisions are understood by all stakeholders
  • Provide high-quality analysis and reports for the CEO and Board on the performance of the Charity, its services and income streams
  • Assisting the Finance Department in being agile and resiliently staffed and trained, to cope with the evolving demands of Trustees, the CEO and company services and business activity


Knowledge, Experience and Training Required


  • A qualified accountant, who is deeply expert in their field
  • A successful track record of leading operations and finance functions
  • Can demonstrate a capacity to financially optimise, evolve and grow a £26M turnover organisation under challenging circumstances
  • Experience of leading strategic financial and business planning, management, reporting and change
  • Able to understand the culture, operating environment and pressures of charitable /not for profit organisations - ideally within health & social care settings
  • Entrepreneurial. Comfortable with ambiguity and taking the initiative to create a way forward when there is uncertainty
  • A resilient, collaborative team player with experience of working as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Solutions and outcomes focused with an ability to identify theoretical opportunities and turn them into reality
  • A strategic team player, with an ability to help others see and work towards the long-term big picture
  • Meticulous attention to detail and business imperatives - where services and careers could be affected
  • Highly organized, with good people and time management skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and adaptable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Calm, selfless and engaging with high levels of emotional intelligence, moral courage and stability in challenging and potentially emotive situations
