Finance Assistant
- Initial 6 Months
- Birchwood Warrington
- Must be able to obtain basic security clearance
- Must be studying towards a professional qualification
Overview of the key tasks -
o Support the month end reporting process as regards journal postings, report running and BPC (Group accounts package) loading to tight timescales
o General Ledger expense analysis for tax pack purposes
o Consolidation and checking of balance sheet reconciliations in order to prepare them for management review
o Completion of balance sheet reconciliations including purchase card
o Support on expenses analysis for PSA purposes
o Support completion of Government Statistical Returns
Job Purpose
Provide a financial service to a project, cost centre or department. Support project/financial accountants in delivery of accurate, timely accounting records and reporting outputs. Provide analysis and financial support to business units and cost centre owners.
Key Responsibilities
o Collate and process financial information to ensure management receives appropriate information in an accurate and timely fashion.
o Maintain various sub ledgers and financial records for a specific business area or for a specific accounting function (e.g. general ledger)
o Undertakes regular and routine financial transactions on ledgers, statements and accounts.
o Communicates and deals with customers and suppliers to resolve issues and problems
o Trouble shoots problems and issues, uses knowledge and judgement to identify and follow appropriate courses of action (including escalation where required) to resolve.
o Prepare and carry out investigation in to budget variances
o Contribute to the completion of monthly accounts feeds (including project outputs) on a timely basis
o Preparation of legal, statutory or regulatory returns for a senior management approval
o Produce analysis and reports for internal management and group reporting requirements for senior management approval and submission
o Identify and highlight to senior management proposals for process improvement
