Fire Risk Assessor

Are you an experienced Fire Risk Assessor? We have an opportunityto join a growing business and develop a Fire Team of risk assessors once setting up a profitable side of the business with new clients as well as cross selling to existing clients. Remote working, with travel in London and surrounding areas.

This is an interesting and varied role and would ideally suit someone who holds ISO and SP 205 certifications. You must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all applicable legislation and guidance, effects of fire on people and the behaviour of people in fire situations, means of escape, all matters of fire prevention and protection and overall management of fire safety.In addition, you will appreciate generally the concept of risk assessment as it applies to fire as well understand the terms "fire hazard" and "fire risk" and appreciate the relationship between the two.



Responsibilities:


Conduct detailed risk assessments and advise necessary action
Determine the need for fire protection systems and equipment
Identify any major failings in the level of passive and/or active fire protection provided by existing systems and equipment from documentation, by observation and, where necessary inspection of measures that are not immediately visible
Write a brief outline of requirementsfor new or upgraded systems and equipment, within the action plan of the fire risk assessment
Demonstrate an ability to correctly identify the purpose, function and suitability of passive or active elements of fire protection/design
Understand the availability and value of third-party certification schemes for persons, systems and products

Detailed knowledge and experience required of the Fire Risk Assessment Process including:

Awarenessof the broad range of methodologies of fire risk assessments available
Ability toapply an appropriate methodology of fire risk assessment in respect of the premises to which the fire risk assessment relates
Be able to identify fire hazards (both common and process) and the risks associated with those hazards
An understanding of fire hazard and fire risk in the premises in context, to make an informed judgement on the appropriate level of fire precautions in the premises where the fire risk assessment is being carried out
Generallydetermine the extent to which fire safety arrangements in premises are adequate and whether duty holders comply with the relevant fire safety legislation
Identify failures to comply with the specific legislation, particularly those that may lead to the commission of an offence
Within the action plan of the fire risk assessment, write a sufficient outline requirement for any measures required to achieve compliance with the relevant legislation
Be aware of the relevant enforcing authority for the legislation under which the fire risk assessment is carried out, as well asto understand and interpret actions of enforcing authorities
Be able to interpret the requirements of the enforcing authorities as set out in noticesas well as be aware of all related legislation, acts and supporting guidance
Have knowledge of the nature of non-compliances that may occurtogether with the nature of offences that may be committed
Agood understanding of the Regulatory Reforms, licensing legislation, Health and Safety, Housing Acts etc.



Salary:
£40,000 - £50,000, car allowance or expenses paid, 20 days holiday + bank holiday, mobile, laptop, commission or bonus scheme to be confirmed and pension
